mem

hdd

case/psu (it was painful for me to suggest this)

dvd burner

with shipping before MIR is 369.61, the video card has a $30 MIR that is good if you buy before the 30th, if you don't there are suitable replacements for a few bucks less.

This should get you playable wow framrates with addons at about medium settings (you have a real cpu gpu and memory so......)

Nothing like upgrading to extremely outdated... It's sort of like wanting to just bomb Afghanistan back to the stone age... But they'll just be like, "Wow... Upgrade!"

Anyways... Guess for a "WoW"box thats all you need though. heh... Good work Gnomer.
Shhh! Theres a dead horde in my trunk. Wanna see it? Fuck around and you'll be it.

that 350 wow box may have been the most painful experience i've had looking at computer parts... but for this cheap... amd is the way to go, and everything in the build is current gen, minus the 8600gt (which is a perfectly acceptable gpu for wow at 1280x1024 or lower and decent settings)

That's really great - thank you so much!
I think I am going to go with that or something very close to it.
Why was the case so painful? just looks or something functional? I have a spare PSU at the house - can't I just get any case that supports microATX and has a slot for a cd rom?
I don't currently have an extra OS key, so I would need to buy that also. That is unless someone has an xp key lying around they don't need : )
I assume vista is still a no no?

I actually have a Rosewill case, I replaced the psu with a modular one though. The case is actually not bad, but I only orded it becuase there was a free shipping deal on it. Mine has removable hd bay, sides that snap right off without tools, and rolled edges so there are no sharp corners to cut yourself on during assembly. Overall not bad, it runs a tad hot with just the stock fan though, so either install extra fans or leave the side off.

Edit: Just looked at the pictures of the case, looks a lot like mine minus the removable toolless drive bays. If you can fit it in your budget I suggest getting a case with those, makes assembly/parts swapping much easier.

Found a case with free shipping and a mail in rebate with some better features then the one linked above.

And, Ecn...there are ummmm....ways around the xp key.

good site, just gotta read the posts and have a torrent dl'er.=)
look up "Windows XP Lite" and it should be under 1gb to dl and scan it with virus + spyware software to make sure you got clean copy.(I think Lealla or Gig would say something like that :-) )

Overall, it worked w/o an XP key for me, and preformance seemed better than the regular XP copy.
It'll dl updates but it won't let you get things like the genuine software stuff & Microsoft support.
Thievery is not what other's make of it, but what you get from it.

if you have a psu lying around that is great.... the one thing that is difficult to do for me is pick out cases, even for my own pc it took me a month to figure out what case to use, and im not 100% happy with it to this day, ( im picky)..... and there is nothing wrong with a steel case elven... unless you plan on moving it... cuz my lil bro has an antec full tower.... omg the thing weighs 50 lbs, and it doesn't have anything special in it.
